Oh thank goodness. Thank you so much for this information, good on Chris for passing it on. I so need to say goodbye to Andrea! Good on Andrew, what strength. I was wondering if he was going to be like Prince Rainier when the beautiful Grace Kelly tragically died. Apparently Prince Rainier never recovered.

I thought of the movie “Little Shop of Horrors” today and searched for “Little STATE of Horrors” to help me remember what year it was that I performed in this uni revue. How sad it is to find this notification of Soapy’s passing.
I worked with Soapy and the team on “Gray’s Miserables” and “Little Shop of Horrors” and I think of him, the cast/crew and the fun times with such fond memories.
Thanks to Soapy, who hosted my first ever ‘Harvey Wallbanger Party’ at his house, I have never been able to mix a drink with orange juice to this day!!!
I’m sure he will be deeply missed. My love to his family and friends.

I think our “Life Model” is different to other states.

Perhaps that hour most of us DON”T spend commuting every day allows the time, energy and some $’s to devote to something else.

Whilst the pool may be smaller it means that people get known more easily, their faults and foibles as well as their strengths.

New to town and young ‘up and comers’ get welcomed for their ‘fresh’ contributions and those returning are welcomed back not seen as outsiders, even the one’s making ‘real’ money.

Perhaps we have to work together because the “play”ground is so small we can’t afford to fight.

I think, in essence we ‘make the best of what we have’. Both individually and as companies.

And our best is pretty bloody good!

maybe we have got it right. if amateurs are producing professional quality work then it speaks volumes. Yes, the line between amateur and professional can be blurred in Hobart at the best of times, but, theatre is the winner. paid or not the locals are prepared to give it their all… and that’s what really counts.
Congratulations everyone, we have a damn good theatre scene in Hobart and we’re driven by dedication, not the almight $.
