Thought I would pass this message from Sara Cooper on to people. Note that this is not an Old Nick activity, but worth your time if you are interested:
Dear Actors
Nathan Spencer, Jane Longhurst and I would like to invite you to attend a meeting of local actors. The meeting is an open meeting for actors from across all circles and all levels of experience.
The aim of this meeting is to hear your views on being an actor in Tasmania, the things you enjoy, the things you find difficult, and your ideas for the future. There are many exciting opportunities in the pipeline locally, especially in the screen industry, and we believe a forum where actors can share and learn from each other will be invaluable at this time.
We’d like to see all performers have ongoing and easy access to industry opportunities, updates and assistance and to be able to disseminate information easily on their own projects.
We are also looking at forming an incorporated body of local performers who would like to see an increase in the amount of professional opportunities in the state and have a voice in the media and beyond.
To make the meeting run to time and ensure we hear from everyone please come prepared with clear concise sentences on each of the following:
a) 3 things you love about acting (stage and screen) in Tasmania.
b) 3 things you would like to see change.
c) 3 ideas for the future.
Nathan will speak briefly about some exciting developments in film and television circles and how to best benefit from these, Jane will outline some ways to stay abreast of industry info and some upcoming events, and I’ll notate all attendee’s input. Depending on the number of attendees your points will either be shared with the whole group, or shared in smaller groups and collated for sharing with the whole.
Please note: If you also function as a producer, director, etc, please come with your ‘actor’s hat’ on.
Date: Sunday 22nd November
Time: 4pm – 7pm
Venue: central Hobart location TBA
